I know how isolating it is to be in the middle of the heavy and not know how you'll make it through one more day. Starting therapy comes with a lot of emotions, from uncertainty about what to expect, to fear of being judged, mixed with a little bit of hope that it might be possible to start feeling better.
You are taking an important first step, and I'm glad you're here.
I have been seeing clients since 2009. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University and my Master's Degree from COAMFTE accredited Alliant International University, which is the highest MFT accreditation in the nation.
I specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which is the only empirically validated couple's therapy model and has been proven through research to be effective and successful long term. EFT is also used for individuals and families.
I have extensive training in EFT, and I am an ICEEFT Certified EFT Supervisor in all three modalities. That means that I am qualified to mentor and teach the model to other therapists, watch tapes of their sessions and help them improve their client work as they move towards becoming certified.
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including community clinics, an inpatient psychiatric hospital and private practice.
You can get to know more about me and my story by following my Facebook and Instagram accounts @NikkiHarmonTherapy, where I talk about attachment and healing.

Psychotherapy works by creating a trusting therapeutic relationship, identifying problematic thoughts, and teaching tools to shift those thoughts and change problematic behaviors. Therapy also creates an environment where safe, healing, and connecting relationships between family members can take place. A good therapist will help you feel less overwhelmed, less alone, and more empowered in your life. Many people report feeling more hopeful even after just one session.
Living in this fast paced world full of comparison and social media, pandemics and unknowns, peer pressure and high expectations, it's no wonder that so many teenagers are struggling. As a parent it can be hard to know if it's normal teenage moodiness or if your teen is struggling with something above and beyond normal teenage stress. Do you know the signs and how to help your teen if they are struggling with their mental health?
